John Wilkinson CEO

John Wilkson - Chairman

John founded Acorn Pest Control in early 1990 operating from the family farm in Hazel Grove, Stockport. The initial company flourished by providing a reliable, trusted and professional approach and due to demand from clients for the company to provide additional services the name later changed to Acorn Environment Services Limited.

After personal experience of a son struggling in mainstream education, John founded the Young Persons Development Model (YPDM) in 2012 with the aim of helping children aged 14 – 16 in similar circumstances.

John maintains a hands on approach to his business and is keen to be aware of the day to day operation and offer support to the management team.

Terry Dunn MBA - Chief Executive Officer

Terry joined Acorn in September 2015 and replaced John Wilkson as CEO with John moving roles to become Chairman of the company.

Terry has a mixed history of public and private sector experience and a wealth of knowledge and experience of environment type operations and growth models.

A Master in Business Administration he started his career in public service within the Highway Maintenance sector and grew through the structure to become a Director of Environment responsible for Highways maintenance, building maintenance, waste collection and disposal, fleet provision and maintenance, pest control, catering, business compliance, licensing, Trading Standards and traffic.

He has also previously spent a number of years in the private sector initially running and subsequently owning a resurfacing company delivering services to utility companies.

Terry has a wealth of experience in our industry and looks to lead Acorn Environment Services Ltd to become one of the most recognised brands of its' kind in the north-west.

Simon Fidler Operations Manager

Simon Fidler - Operations Manager

Simon completed his secondary education at Marple Hall School in 1998 and moved in to employment in the construction industry.

Simon's specialist area was installation work in the mechanical and electrical field, Simon also worked in the retail and restaurant fitting industry contracting to large blue chip companies this included working to tight time scales and budgets.

Throughout his career at Acorn, Simon has developed in all aspects of the business from commercial to operations, added to this Simon has completed a broad aspect of training which has included NVQ's in tree surgery, brush cutting, weed control, International Powered Access Federation certification for cherry pickers, and Killgerm training in bird control. Simon has developed his key leadership skills whilst working at Acorn, this linked in with his "can do" positive attitude mean Simon has successfully progressed through the company structure to his current position as Operations Manager.

Iain Skelton Business Consultant

Iain Skelton - Business Consultant

Iain graduated from Preston Polytechnic in 1982 with a Degree in Applied Social Studies and a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work. He started work as a social worker in Stockport and has enjoyed a wide and varied career in social care, whilst remaining within the borough.

Iain undertook specialist work in learning disability, mental health and services supporting people with dementia. In 1987 he was appointed to his first management post in residential care for older people. A subsequent move took him to Stepping Hill Hospital, where he managed the social work teams.

In 1997, Iain moved to his first strategic management role as Service Manager for Older People. Since this time his professional career has focused on developing and delivering community based services which allow people to remain independent in their own homes and local communities. Iain has worked closely with NHS North West and University of Bolton on developing the Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care and looking to introduce it as a recognised qualification in social care.

Iain joined Acorn on a consultancy basis in early October 2014 following his retirement from Stockport Council. He is currently working on the roll out of the Young Persons Development Model and introducing the Trust & Repair service.
